Artist: Marius Seidlitz

Marius Seidlitz combines design and art. On the one hand, the design aspect in his art means the fineness of both the design and the drawing, as well as an eye for the human. Design is based on the human, practical requirement of an object or, in this case, of art itself. This interplay is also repeated in its development. Design, which demands a clear and precise reproduction of an idea, combines in its works with expressive colors, the just in contrast to surprise each other and raise questions. There the expressive and chaotic breaks through the clarity of the design. So it is not surprising that Seidlitz while working especially his focus on the colors that mix on the canvas, apply and change. His works receive an almost psychological component through this process. His works explore the surprisingly interpersonal, both in the creative process and in their themes, which deal with dreams, fears and social issues. Not without reason calls he considers the surrealists, and in particular Salvador Dali, as one of his inspirations, since he too introduces the subconscious into his works in the form of chance, the unpredictable and the chaotic to flow into.

“In this series, I work on the theme of “Society in the Madness of Optimization”. How do I get as close as possible to perfection? The question is no longer just whether you feel more beautiful than before after self-optimization, but how much a flawless face, how much a perfect body increases the market value. The general flood of images of perfect Photoshop-edited bodies creates increasing uncertainty and a compulsion to self-expression. The loss of one’s identity and individual identity is unstoppable.”
